Broker intro & outreach scripts

First-contact email, follow-up, and phone script that make brokers take you seriously and send you better deals.

When to use it: Module 3 (Sourcing). Use after your buy box is written — every script references it, because specific buyers get better deal flow.

Brokers rank buyers in seconds: proof of funds, a specific buy box, and responsiveness. These scripts signal all three. Replace every [bracket] before sending.

First-contact email

Subject: Buyer for [industry] businesses in [region] — $[X] committed

Hi [Broker first name],

I'm an individual buyer acquiring one [industry] business in [region] in the next [6–12] months. My criteria:

- Asking price: $[400k]–$[1.2M]
- SDE: $[150k]+ with a diversified customer base
- [Industry specifics, e.g. "service contracts preferred"]

I have $[X] in committed capital, [SBA pre-qualification / lender relationship] in place, and I can review a CIM and respond within 48 hours.

If anything current fits — or is coming to market soon — I'd welcome the chance to sign your NDA. Either way, I'd appreciate being on your buyer list for this profile.

One-week follow-up

Subject: Re: Buyer for [industry] businesses in [region]

Hi [Broker first name],

Following up on my note last week. Still actively looking — same criteria, same timeline. Two quick questions:

1. Do you have anything now, or expected in the next 60 days, that fits?
2. Is there a colleague in your office who covers [region/industry] I should also talk to?

Happy to jump on a 10-minute call: [two time windows].

[Full name]

Phone script (first call)

Opening: "Thanks for taking the call — I'll keep it short. I'm buying one [industry] business in [region], $[price range], and I wanted to introduce myself so you know exactly what to send me."

Have ready:
- Your buy box in one sentence.
- Capital and financing status in one sentence.
- Timeline in one sentence.

Ask before hanging up:
1. "What do you have now — or coming — that's close?"
2. "What makes a buyer easy for you to work with?"
3. "Who else should I be talking to?"

Close: "I respond to CIMs within 48 hours. What's the fastest way to get on your list?"
